On Tuesday, November 19, CMAE celebrates the incalculable investments made by parent-volunteers in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, and it invites CMAE members to nominate individual parent-volunteers for special recognition.
Exceptional parent-volunteers can have direct, positive impact on the effectiveness of instruction and learning in schools, and such parents aid school administrators and classroom educators in Charlotte Mecklenburg School every day.
In support of effective instruction, excellent classroom management, and a positive school environment, exceptional parent-volunteers read to students, model volunteerism, assist in planning and implementing Open House events, participate in school safety before and after the school day, and plan and raise funds.
They serve as "class parents", as chaperones on field experiences, on school-based management committees, and on other civic committees for the benefit of public schools, and they often address the needs of public schools before public decision-making bodies, and to community groups and civic organizations.
They are often found in audiences at student awards ceremonies, plays and musicals, talent shows, athletic competitions, and chaperoning student dances and parties.
